Description

This is a MagSafe phone mount designed to be used in the 991 / 981 generation Porsche 911, Boxster and Caymans. I was unhappy with all the phone mounts i found as the offset the phone to a spot i wasn't happy with. This puts the phone in a position over the top of the PCM screen which feels very natural compared to offset mounts.  Removable Phone Mount I printed mine from both an ASA and PLA filament.  If your vehicle is going to be left outside in direct sun for extended periods you're going to be approaching the limits of PLA material therefore i'd recommend printing from ASA which will be more heat resistant. There is a recessed 20mm circle in the center of the mount that is designed to be used with some 3m VHB tape. This will ensure the MagSafe mount does not fall out. The hole that goes through the mount is simply there to help use your finger to push out the mount if necessary. There is a channel in the back of the mount which allows you to run the USB cable cleanly back to the glovebox.  Mounting Tabs The phone mount needs 2 metal mounting tabs that mount to the top hole of the PCM screen. The plastic mount sits right on top of the “ears” from the metal bracket. You will need to make these from a 0.048" metal (i used a 304 stainless steel).  I recommend getting these cut from a service like SendCutSend or reaching out to me to get some that are already fabricated and powder coated.   Both mounts are identical with the exception of the bend (see reference photos).
