Free-only
CC BY-NC 4.0
Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0. Others may download, print, remix and share your work — even build on it — as long as they credit you and never use it commercially. Ideal for free parts you want to keep free.
CC0 — Public Domain
You waive all rights. Anyone can use, modify and share — even without credit. Equivalent to public domain.
Permissive — commercial allowed, credit required
CC BY 4.0
Most permissive CC license. Anyone can share, remix, print and even sell your design — even commercially — as long as they credit you. Good if you want maximum reach and don't mind commercial reuse.
MIT
Software-style permissive license. Anyone can use, modify and sell, privately or commercially, as long as your copyright notice stays. Simple and business-friendly.
Copyleft — commercial allowed, derivatives stay open
CC BY-SA 4.0
Like CC BY 4.0 but remixes must be shared under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 license. Keeps the open chain alive. Commercial use is allowed.
GPL v3
Strong copyleft. Anyone can use and sell, but any modified version they share must also be GPL v3 with source available. Keeps derivatives open.

You keep all rights. Users get a personal license to download and print for their own use only. No reselling, sharing or redistributing the files. Distribution stays on GarageLayer only.
Uploader responsibility
You must have the right to share what you upload and label the license honestly — the license you pick is your legal statement about the work, and you alone are responsible if it's wrong. If you upload a remix, the original's license still applies, so check what it allows before you publish. Mislabeling, uploading work you don't own, or stripping someone else's credit is a violation: the listing will be taken down, and repeat infringers lose upload access. The same goes for links you submit for indexing — only link work you have the right to share here, and don't present someone else's design as your own.
Indexed (external) parts
Listings marked Indexed from … belong to their source — Thingiverse, Printables, MakerWorld, or Cults3D. We show a title, summary, and thumbnail, and link out; files stay on the source and thumbnails pass through a temporary proxy cache, deleted with the listing. The license that applies is the one on the source page — always check it before you print, remix, or sell. If a source page changes or disappears, tell us through a support ticket and we'll refresh or remove the entry.
Reporting a violation
Found stolen or mislabeled work? File an IP report with the part link and proof. We hide the listing while we review. See the IP Policy for the full notice, appeal, and repeat-infringer process.
