This model lets you use the trunk light, or any replacement for it in your glove compartment. The original factory light is a faulty design, which has a switch built in, that is meant to turn the light off once you close the glove compartment door. Unfortunately this breaks often, resulting in the halogen C5W bulb being constantly on, which melts the light itself and its surroundings. While not only being annoying this can also be a hazard. In the end the glove compartment light wasn't functional anymore, thanks to this issue, and I had to look for a whole assembly. It was much easier and cheaper to find a light for the trunk, which was only a bit smaller. If you use this model I highly recommend using a LED bulb or just an LED assembly, since the switch will be eliminated. The Opel/Vauxhall Astra H turns this light off automatically 10 minutes after removing the key, so even if you use this solution, it will not drain your car battery. Pros of using this solution: It lets you use the trunk light, in case your original glove compartment light got destroyed/melted or you are just tired of using old school C5W bulbs.
