Background Early versions of the Mazda Miata MX5 NC (MK3), specifically models manufactured before November 20, 2006 , have an outdated draining mechanism that is easily clogged, and causes a significant amount of road noise to propagate into the cabin from the bottom of the car, where the exit of the drains are located. This model attempts to replicate the upgraded roof drain mesh filter that can be found in the Mazda Hood Drain Modification Kit found on online, which can be used to prevent the drains from being clogged by debris such as branches, leaves, etc, by providing a mechanical barrier/filtration mechanism. Print Settings Filament: Any heat resistant filament should do, I am using PETG Infill: 10% Layer Height: 0.2mm Nozzle Diameter: 0.4mm Changelog The first prototype of this published on 16/02/25, has not been test fitted into a car yet, and includes a model that is a near 1:1 replica of the OEM Mazda part, minus a few minor differences that should not affect functionality . I have published a YouTube video that explores the drain modification kit, designing and modelling this part, and intend to publish a follow-up tutorial video on how to install it, and a longer term follow-up video on it's effectiveness at preventing the drains from being clogged.
