The front cover alignment tool from the LS essentials pack didnt work for me as it was too large in OD so I designed and printed my own to suit my LS1 from a Holden VY SS Commodore. I added a radius to one end to help with insertion onto crank and through front seal. If your seam ends up just down one side, just use some sandpaper to clean it up and it should slip right on.
