Made this tool to help me fix the well known fault on Land Rover Discovery sport where the sleeve from auto gearbox (transmission) to power transfer unit (PTU) fails to hold the oil seal correctly allowing a fluid leak. This part is designed and measured based on Bell Engineering mod fix. What the tool does:- 3 small holes on outer edges are designed for 4.5x70mm screws to drive into old seal. Central threaded hole is M12 for bolt or studding (threaded rod), using internal 'push' plate as the stub protruding from gearbox is hollow. Use this to fit new seal squarely into place at a set depth by means of tapping or pushing. Other info:- The instructions on my parts: this seal needs to be knocked into the gearbox square to 26mm from the face of the gearbox, do not knock it in until it stops as it will not seal. The central stub on my gearbox protrudes the face of gearbox, I didn't take accurate measurement of this but a 15mm pocket was enough space. The geared part was 3mm shallow of the outer face of gearbox, hence the 'first' pocket being 23mm. Outer measurement W 75mm x D 50mm Pocket section W 52.5mm x D 23mm Secondary pocket W 37.25mm x D 15mm 3 screw holes suitable for 4.5 x 70mm screws M12 thread to rear 'ISOmetricprofile' standard thread fit Internal 'push' plate 3mm I had a M12 bolt laying around. I am unable to export to .scad (an error in FreeCAD) so I have included the original design .fcstd (FreeCAD) file for anyone that wants to make adjustments.
