Cut the existing wire from the plug half way along (so you can restore it if you need to!!). Solder the plug to short lengths of wire (mine were too long, but I'd soldered it by the time I realised). Add some heat shrink and give it some heat. Solder the other end to the G (black) and V (red) points on the USB-C board. Put some more heat shrink around the base of the USB plug and give it some heat. Push the USB plug into the hole as far as it will go. Check your phone fits in! Take the USB out a bit and add some superglue (non-conductive), then force it back in place. Put it all back together again.
