A replacement for the stock seat recline knob in the Hyundai ix35. The original one in my car was getting janky, so I modeled a new one. It's comfortable to grip, holds up well, and you can print it in whatever color suits your interior. Designed for and tested on the ix35. It might fit other models too, but I haven't tested that. If you want to try, print the 'front_seat_recliner_dial_core' STL first and check the fit before committing to the full model. If it slides onto the shaft but won't rotate without heavy resistance, the fit is good. Print orientation doesn't matter much for this test piece, but if you print it flat in the easiest orientation, don't be surprised if it splits along layer lines when you twist it. The full model doesn't have this problem when printed at an angle as described below. Recommended materials Car interiors get hot, so only use PLA if you're sure yours doesn't (above 40 °C it can deform or melt). Nylon and polycarbonate work great if your printer handles them. Otherwise, in order of preference: ASA. Best choice for anything automotive thanks to its UV and heat resistance. ABS. Slightly worse than ASA overall, but works fine if that's what you have on hand. PETG. Good balance of printability and durability, but less resistant to UV and heat spikes than ASA or ABS. PLA. Rigid and easy to print, but not a good idea for hot summer months. Print settings Layer height: 0.2 mm Infill: 20-30% is plenty for a durable part. Walls: 3 walls for strength. Orientation: Print at a 45 degree angle for easy support removal. The closer you get to 90 degrees (on its side), the stronger the print will be given the direction of forces on the knob, but support removal gets harder. If your printer handles overhangs and bridging well, you can probably do 60-70 degrees with no supports at all. Supports: At 45 degrees you only need minimal supports at the bottom. At 90 degrees the print is strongest, but supports end up between the internal ridges and removing
