
The pushpin broke on an Audi TT MK1 (2000-2006) for the trim near the engine above the radiator. The car requires about 6 of them. Both the material you use and how you slice the parts is very important in this build to get a good quality, rugged print. 3 things to keep in mind: Slicing (required) - You need to the feet of the push pin and the pin to be flexible. Therefore it works best if you print this sideways. (Must be printed with support instead of simple upside down placement) Material (required) - While PLA can work, it is brittle and less flexible. PETG or ABS is strongly recommended to create a flexible part that will compress through the hole and then expand to its resting state when the pin is inserted. This is also important for the original pin insertion which is press-fit and then not removable) Slicing (optional) - I levitated the parts above the bed in slicer. To do this you must use some tricks (that Prusa Article on moving parts above the bed in the Z axis ). Without this trick, the bottom of my parts were excessively melted due to heat. This trick gives you a ‘cleaner’ print but it still works without this. Update: I like my PLA prints the best. Also, I found the best print configuration to be with the pushpin printed on its side (I now that's a lot of support material) with the 4 feet in an X configuration. That seems to maximize their connectivity to one another and the top of the push pin. Comments and suggestions welcome if you've found a better way to print it!
