I followed the information in this forum to add a rear window rolldown switch to the hatch of my 2002 4Runner. I used a factory rear window switch from the front of a 3rd gen 4runner. However, it was too long to fit, so I designed the extension mount to lift it off the hatch. It snaps into place and holds the switch well. https://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/191090-3rd-gen-rear-window-cargo-switch-mod-w-pictures.html Note that 01 and 02 4runners must be wired differently. Read through the whole forum before wiring. Here is a video from PhoRunner that details how to perform the mod on an earlier 3rd gen 4runner: Additionally, I wanted to be able to open the hatch from the inside of my 4runner. I followed this tutorial: https://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/284726-interior-hatch-release-quick-dirty.html I also designed a handle to make it easier to open. I added a 4mm M3 heat set insert and used a 10mm long M3 hex screw to hold the bike cable to the handle. I suggest to print these models out of either PETG or ABS. PLA will deform in warmer temperatures.
